Summary

The Senior Equipment & Facilities Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance on all production and facilities machinery, equipment, and instrumentation to sustain plant operations at efficient levels.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair production and facilities equipment meeting company standards and minimizing downtime
  • Coordinate the scheduling of repair and maintenance work with production management
  • Install new equipment as needed, lead facilitation of new equipment
  • Identify and manage outside contractors in support of infrastructure maintenance and repair
  • Requisition materials and supplies needed for equipment and facilities repair
  • Document maintenance activities and update operating standards and maintenance procedures for all equipment and processes
  • Communicate equipment and facilities status updates
  • Manage and continuously improve a facility-wide preventative maintenance program, through data analysis and observation
  • Support occasional off-day, off-hour repairs or maintenance tasks to minimize production downtime
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude
  • Read and understand blueprints and manuals relating to equipment sub-systems, facilities electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and energy management systems
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Basis computer skills in working with programs such as Word, Excel, etc.

Position Requirements

Experience

A minimum of 5-10 years of previous experience as an equipment/facilities technician in a small to medium-sized manufacturing facility. Proficient in using hand, power, shop, and diagnostic tools. Excellent documentation skills for equipment and facility repair data. Experience in the semiconductor industry and e-Beam equipment is desired.

Examples of systems and equipment to service and repair: CHA Electron beam evaporation systems, Thick film screen printing machines, Disco Dicing machines and cut water support systems, Ferric and Cupric Chloride etching systems, Photo patterning equipment including Laminating, Exposure, and Development systems, Automated Electrolytic Plating line, High-Temperature BTU Furnaces as well as various facility-related items including air handlers, air compressors, air filtration units etc.

About the Role

The Thin Film Engineer leads all engineering activities in the Thin Film Department. Responsibilities include the development of new processes and their integration into existing process flows, as well as continuous improvement of established processes. In addition, the Thin Film Engineer leads the specification and introduction of new equipment to improve capabilities, quality, and throughput. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic team player to apply standard thin film processing techniques to the specific challenges of the ceramic thin film environment.


What You Get to Do

  • Process owner for substrate preparation, thin film deposition, photolithography, and etching of a wide range of metallization on ceramic substrates.
  • Develop new processes and introduce them into manufacturing. This includes process development, determination of process capabilities, establishing QC procedures, documentation, and training.
  • Review customer inquiries to determine manufacturability and cost.
  • In cooperation with the Quality Department, develop and support yield and quality data reporting, including SPC methods.
  • Continuously improve existing processes, using industry-standard methodologies.
  • Coordinate with Production Management to ensure that thin film department resources are available for production needs.
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers regarding products and materials. Investigate improvements to current production processes.
  • Represent the thin film department in coordination meetings related to engineering planning and reporting, AS9100D and general quality management, material review board, and operations.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

About You

  • Bachelor of Science or Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or similar
  • Seven or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment as a Thin Film Engineer
  • Working knowledge of Vacuum Technology and Deposition techniques like e-beam evaporation
  • Experience with photolithography, wet etching, and ion-beam milling
  • Working knowledge of thin film metrology tools (profilometry, ellipsometry, RGA, etc.)
  • Excellent data collection and analysis skills
  • Skilled at DOE creation and evaluation
  • Exceptional ability to communicate verbally and in writing with a wide variety of customers, vendors, and staff
  • Ability to plan and organize the work of others; ability to delegate; ability to manage project/activity deadlines
